Racist mum causes £4,000 damage in takeaway rampage – but told to pay just £400

A mum who went on a drunken rampage in a takeaway and caused £4,000 of damage was told to repay just £400.

Ann Marie Fowler, 33, falsely claimed she had been raped during her wrecking spree as workers watched in horror.

She flashed her breasts, smashed a glass cabinet, broke a till by punching it and lobbed a charity collection tin at the owner's head.

Shocking footage showed her assaulting a worker, hauling down glass counters and hurling food around at Kebabish in Falkirk, Scotland.

The mum-of-two grabbed a worker by the t-shirt as he was on the phone to police, yelling “you raped me, you raped me” while exposing her chest during the chaos on July 21.

She admitted racially aggravated assault and a string of other charges, but was spared jail and told to pay compensation.

But owner Zohaib Arshad blasted it as an “injustice” and said the allegations could have ruined his life.

He said: "She's taking her clothes off and accusing me of rape – that video has saved me.

"If we didn't have that video they might have arrested me, if I had been accused of rape I might have been taken in for questioning.

"Being racist is a crime. She accused us of rape and there was vandalism and racism.

"Everything went into the bin.

"The compensation should be higher and she must be jailed."

He said insurance did not cover the damage and the smashed glass cabinet has had to be replaced by a perspex one in the meantime.

The dad-of-two added: "The damage was £4,000 and we had to pay to dispose of the old one.

"She called us so many times 'black b******s', they ignored that."

At Falkirk Sheriff Court Fowler admitted committing a racially aggravated assault, making offensive remarks, wilfully destroying property, throwing food and pulling a glass display case and causing it to smash.

Fowler, of Kelty, Scotland, also admitted breaching a curfew to stay at home from 7pm until 7am.

Procurator fiscal depute Rachel Wallace said Fowler became aggressive and threw a container of food into the air.

She said: "The accused then picked up a charity collection tin and struck the witness on the head.

"This caused him to sustain a minor lump to his head which didn't require any medical attention.

"The accused then began removing items of her upper clothing while again shouting 'You raped me’.”

Police arrived and found two bank cards she had dropped as she fled the scene.

Allana Turley, defending, said she had gone to a pub after visiting her son, who had broken his back, in hospital.

She said she had shown "genuine remorse and regret" would struggle to pay a hefty compensation fee as she was on benefits.

Sheriff O'Mahoney said she was on the "borderline" of jail but placed her under supervision for two years instead and made the compensation order.

She will also undertake alcohol counselling.
