Lottery bosses unveil the most popular six number combinations picked in UK
Lottery bosses have unveiled the most popular six number combinations picked in the UK.
They revealed the most common digits chosen by players are 7, 14, 21, 28, 35, 42– all multiples of the universally “lucky” number seven.
It comes ahead of tonight’s special Lotto £20million “Must Be Won” draw.
Camelot chief Andy Carter said: “The secret is finally out, Lotto players have been fans of picking the number seven when choosing their own numbers.
“It would be amazing if they were to be drawn, with potentially hundreds of jackpot winners.
“Good luck, whatever your lucky numbers are, in Saturday’s Lotto draw, remember that £20m jackpot must be won.”
Lotto bosses also revealed that multiples of five are the second most popular number combo selected – with punters picking 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30.
Multiples of other numbers are often in the top 10 including 8, 16, 24, 32, 40, 48, as well as multiples of nine. If no one manages to match six numbers in , the jackpot prize money will be shared between all the other players who match two or more numbers. It’s being called a “rolldown”.
It comes after a UK ticket-holder scooped the £79million EuroMillions jackpot last week.
The massive win means the punter was instantly richer than pop star Harry Styles, who is said to be worth £74m.
Elsewhere, pantomime season was saved by Lotto cash.
Theatre bosses feared they could not fund the festive shows because they would have to leave too many seats empty to comply with social distancing.
But the National Lottery pledged to buy empty seats at the Palladium and it is working to extend the scheme to up to 34 other venues.
