Fears grow for missing children, aged 11 and 13, who disappeared together

Concerns are growing for two young children who went missing on Sunday in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

Eireann Ruddy, 13, and Paul Price, 11, were last seen on Crumlin Road at 10:15am on Sunday morning.

Police have launched a search for the pair and have asked the public for help.

BelfastLive reports Eireann has been described as being 4 feet 10 inches tall, with a slim build, and fair hair – and is believed to have left her home in Carlisle Circus at approximately 8am on Sunday.

She was last seen wearing a blue hooded top with white writing on the front.

While Paul has been described as being 4 feet 6 inches tall, of a slight build, and with short brown hair.

It is believed he would be wearing a black North Face coat, black tracksuit bottoms and black trainers.

He is also reported as likely carrying a Hugo Boss backpack.

The children's parents are said to be "worried sick", with concerns growing as the day progressed towards nightfall.

Eireann's mother Caroline Rafferty said: "They were last seen around 8:50am on the Crumlin Road end of Annesley street and basically you can only turn right or left up the Crumlin Road or left down Clifton Street and there are no sightings on CCTV. They have basically vanished.

"She has never done anything like this before. She packed a bag and was getting ready to leave. It had to be planned. I don't know why she would do this, it is so unlike her."

Caroline went on: "She is not streetwise and is not sensible in that way and I am getting really concerned.

"I think people are assuming that she will come home eventually, but I fear that it won't work out that way.

"I think she is going to be panicking about being in trouble for doing this, but I think she needs to know that it's not just her family and friends that are looking for her but CRS, police and the wider community are now involved."

The Police Service of Northern Ireland have appealed to the public to help in the search for the children.

A spokesperson for the force has said: "If you know where Eireann and Paul are or believe that you have seen them, please call Police on 101 and quote serial 785 of 11/10/20."
