Police in Spain are hunting a road rage killer who fled in a UK-plated car after allegedly stabbing a 19-year-old.

The Mercedes driver is said to have knife his victim after telling him off for nearly running him over at a zebra crossing in the Costa del Sol.

The victim named only as cinema worker Ulrich was pronounced dead in the scene after being stabbed in the heart at around 2.30pm on Wednesday.

A police source said detectives were hunting a "well-built blonde" man witnesses said fled in a right-hand drive white Mercedes with a UK number plate.

The knife attack occurred outside The Diana Centre in an area known as Diana Park off the dual-carriageway running between the Costa del Sol resorts of Marbella and Estepona.

Ulrich is understood to have been heading back from a local supermarket to the home he shared with his parents and two siblings opposite the murder scene when he was attacked.

Local reports said one of the people who went to his aid was his mother.

One said the fatal stabbing occurred following a short row after Ulrich complained the Merc driver had been going too fast and had nearly run him over as he stepped onto the zebra crossing.

Police have confirmed they have yet to make any arrests.

The suspect is thought to have been with a woman passenger.

Olive Press reported the victim was in the car park when the Merc reportedly pulled up next to him.

Two people jumped out and reportedly stabbed him in the chest before fleeing in the vehicle.

Ulrich was left lying in a pool of blood and could not be revived by paramedics, it was reported.

Costa del Sol sees millions of tourists flock to the pristine beaches in southern Spain every year.

They left around 4pm as the judicial funeral service arrived to collect his body.

Witnesses told the publication that CCTV may have captured the attack on camera.

Groups of people young and old have gathered at the site of the killing to mourn Ulrich's loss.
